Update: Watch Sen. Clinton’s farewell address to the senate.
Anne Flaherty at the Huffington Post reports today:
“WASHINGTON — The Senate Foreign Relations Committee voted overwhelmingly on Thursday for Hillary Rodham Clinton to become the next secretary of state, with Democrats predicting her leadership would mark a turn from warfare toward diplomacy.
“The 16-1 approval by the committee paves the way for a full Senate vote after President-elect Barack Obama takes office on Jan. 20. Clinton is not expected to hit any major roadblocks, with Republicans and Democrats alike praising her acumen on the issues.”
The one no vote came from Sen. David Vitter of Louisiana, the socially conservative Republican scandalized when his name appeared on the D.C. Madam’s phone list.
The lone "scandalized" no vote doesn't even count. You go Hillary. I feel so secure with Hillary as the face of America. And she is...because we are fairly certain That One is standing in quick sand relying on Hillary to pull him out. I watched Hillary's confirmation hearings, and just when you think the woman can stun you no more, there she goes ~ displaying her grasp and knowlege yet again. I miss the Clintons, and am so very happy to have at least one back in a seat of power. More, more I say. Brava!
ReplyDeleteWarfare to diplomacy, yes!!! It has been a long 8 years.
