Obama and the Special Olympics; When Will the Governance Begin?

If you scan the readers’ comments regularly in the blogosphere, you’re already familiar with the kind of jokes President Obama’s millions of immature online supporters enjoy. They habitually denigrate others in a milieu where any form of bigotry such as sexism or ageism is acceptable except racism that specifically targets African-American males.

Needless to say no exceptions are made for people with mental or physical disabilities; I’ve repeatedly winced at the “short bus” comments on the Huffington Post message boards. So it should come as no surprise that on the Leno show last night, our president referenced the Special Olympics in describing his low bowling score.

In the Christian Science Monitor, Jimmy Orr writes:

In a lighthearted conversation, President Obama told Jay Leno that he recently bowled a 129 at the White House bowling alley.

“Very good,” Leno said sarcastically.

“It was like Special Olympics or something,” Obama replied.

Who knows? Maybe Obama’s gaffe will serve as a wake up call for the pied piper and his followers who continue to receive email alerts in his ongoing campaign. The rest of us are asking, “When will the governance begin?”

  1. I guess I shouldn't be surprised really... but I was. Obama's flippant references to "Special Olympics" and "water heads" left this pediatric nurse aghast.

What on earth did we (they) elect to the highest office in our country?

  2. Yes, SYD, thanks for the link to That's Me on the Left. It's becoming more outrageous day by day. Obama supporters were out in force today a the Huffington Post. Hundreds of them writing their supportive comments. They would tear the place apart if anyone made a racist comment about Obama, but see how dismissive they are when it comes to people with disabilities?

  3. I heard Obama apologized to Maria Shriver; how about Sarah Palin? Of course not. The great uniter is the most partisan politician I have seen in the Presidency. He even made a joke about Republicans when meeting with the head of Brazil. Like the guy from Brazil cares about Democrats and Repubicans. He is an embarrassment yet the people who voted for him continue to support him. I just don't get it. He's treating the Presidency like it is a monday-friday, 8-5 job. God help us if something happens on a weekend. His teleprompter might have to take over all by itself.

  4. Hey, Puma for Life,

Thanks for your input. You always have good insights to share. Obama's robotic teleprompter is definitely akin to its owner.

BTH, wasn't Dubya known as the great uniter in the early days of his administration?
