Clinton to be Named Secretary of State on Monday

You can hear the weeping and wailing of Obama’s left-wing online supporters across the blogosphere as they watch the air escape from their punctured celebratory balloons. How could the darling of the extreme left, who bravely opposed the Iraq War in his role as an Illinois State legislator, so soon and so callously betray his most fervent supporters by appointing Hillary Clinton to the top diplomatic post in his administration? Does - does - does this mean that knowledge, experience, and wisdom count?

The AP’s Beth Fouhy reports:

“President-elect Barack Obama planned to nominate Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton as his secretary of state on Monday, transforming a once-bitter political rivalry into a high-level strategic and diplomatic partnership.

“Obama will name the New York senator to his national security team at a news conference in Chicago, Democratic officials said Saturday. They requested anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly for the transition team.”
