In covering Obama’s possible picks for Secretary of the Treasury, Politico’s Lisa Lerer and Victoria McGrane waited until the bottom of Page 1 before mentioning that Lawrence Summers had been fired as President of Harvard for inappropriate comments he made regarding the capabilities of women in math and science. At the top of page 2, the article quotes MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow:
“It’s hard to imagine the Obama administration wanting to have to devote the time necessary to sell the country on the idea of a guy who made himself famous at Harvard by suggesting that girls can’t do math.”
