In Early May: Renewal of the Earth and the Democratic Process

As host of a political opinion blog, it’s easy to get so consumed by the 2008 campaign that I lose touch with other important areas of life. So it was important for me to go out in the countryside the other day and take a peek at nature’s transformational process in early May up here in the Midwest.

Temperatures so far remain on the cool side; nevertheless, as the above photo reveals, recent rainfall has washed winter away and with the help of intermittent sunlight has brought new life to the countryside.

In the meantime, Hillary Clinton supporters take heart. The harsh attacks this week by the punditry and Obama supporters in their attempts to force the first viable female candidate for the presidency out of the race will not succeed. We will continue to send our prayers, goodwill, and financial support to Hillary’s campaign to assure that in keeping with the principles of democracy, all who are qualified will have the opportunity to vote in the Democratic primary.

With our efforts, the spirit of democracy in our country, like the earth itself, will also find renewal this spring.
