I’ve said this before: the American people are a lot smarter than party leaders and pundits. A CBS News poll released the day after the superdels handed the nomination to Obama indicate that 45% of those interviewed believe the media was harder on Hillary Clinton than the other candidates, and 67% believe it was due to her gender.
The same poll reports that 60 percent of men and 76 percent of women believe that Hillary Clinton's candidacy this year will make it easier in the future for women to run for President. Sixty-nine percent believe there will be a woman president during their lifetime.
A CBS News poll also indicates that 68 percent of Americans say the U.S. is ready for a black President, up 6 points from March and 14 points from January. The poll was conducted May 30-June 3 and has a 4 point margin of error.
